Estate Cleanout in Crystal River

Got a call from a family in Crystal River who’d inherited their parents’ home. Three bedrooms, a Florida room, and a two-car garage — all full. Furniture, clothing, kitchen stuff, boxes of paperwork, old electronics, holiday decorations going back decades. A textbook estate cleanout from top to bottom.

Day one we focused on the main living areas. Sorted keep-worthy items into a staging area for the family to review. Everything else went into the truck — furniture, mattresses, a broken treadmill, two window AC units, and about thirty garbage bags of miscellaneous stuff.

Day two was the garage and Florida room. Found a bunch of old paint cans (dropped those at the Citrus County hazardous waste facility), some usable tools the family wanted, and a riding mower that still ran. Donated the mower and a couch that was in good shape to the Habitat ReStore in Inverness.

A few of the antique pieces — a solid wood hutch, some vintage kitchenware, and a set of oil paintings — actually had decent resale value. We made the family an offer on those items so they could put a little cash back in their pocket instead of just watching it all go into a truck.

By end of day two the house was broom-clean and ready for the realtor walkthrough. Family said it would have taken them weeks to do what we knocked out in two days.
